Fred Hucul & Gus Bodnar  - Wool, size 46 with the Rayson Sports tag in the hem. Beautiful felt on felt with chain stitching logo.  Numbers in tackle twill.. This jersey came from the personal collection of Fred Hucul.  A Letter of Authenticity accompanies this jersey signed by Fred Hucul. Now according to Hucul this was his jersey he wore when he was called up from the minors. In 50-51 Hucul played in 3 games and Bodnar played in 44 games out of 70.  Two other players could have also worn #12 that year, Red Hamill played 2 games and Ray Powell played in 31 games but he probably wore 18. In the next 3 seasons Bodnar was the only one to wear #12. So this all points to the 50-51 season, even though Hucul is not listed in the Hawks website for wearing #12, database's have been known to be wrong and there is a reason Hucul had and kept this jersey all these years.  I believe he wore #12 and it was not recorded correctly.

Game Wear:

Right Sleeve – 1 team repair, and one un-repaired hole and a few light stick marks.

Left Sleeve – Some general filth on the elbow area

Front – One team repair, and some blood on the front.

Back – A couple marks on the back.

Fight Strap - NA

Inside - Some nice inner pilling

Phil Esposito - Olympic durene knit, size 44.  In 65-66 the Hawks go to a "V" neck.  This is Espo's rookie sweater. Olympic tagging in the collar. Chain stitched head and Embroidered shoulder patches. This jersey was handed down to the St. Catharine's Black Hawks after use from the Chicago team.  That is where the Captains "C" was put on.  This jersey provenance is that it came from the old equipment manager of the St. Catherine's team. This jersey has been photo matched to the hockey card to the right (Thanks to Sean Sullivan for finding the match).  The characteristics of the photo match are as follows:  The placement of the tomahawk, and the #7 are in perfect alignment with the jersey.  The font of the #7 is exact. The characteristics of the tomahawk are exact, the bottom of the handles going through the "C" are skinny, especially the left one is more skinny then the right one. Also the stick marks that you see left of the bottom #7 are still slightly visible on the jersey.  This jersey was shown to Phil Esposito at the 05" National (a special thanks to my friend Hersh at Frozen Pond).  This is the only known Phil Esposito Blackhawks jersey in existence.  This jersey jersey was also featured in last weeks Sports Collectors Digest.  This jersey belongs in the Hall of Fame!!!

Multiple Players - General Athletic durene knit, size  48. This jersey was worn as a #25 player unknown and also worn as a #8 and the last number is #5. This style was worn with this tagging between 65-66 and 68-69, during those years these players wore those numbers: No one wears #25 during this era, which I think was the first number on the jersey according to wear and sewing patterns, so if the jersey was issued in 65-66 it was a camp jersey.  #8 was worn by Camille Henry in 65-66 (although in a playoff game from that year, he was wearing a 60-61 to 63-64 Olympic style, not General) and Red Hay wore 8 in 66-67. In 67-68 #8  was worn by Gerry Goyer in and 68-69 it was worn by Jim Pappin the whole season. Now the #5 looks very new and I believe this was added in the 70's for practice. (thanks to a fellow collector on the research).

This jersey was recycled a few times and then probably worn as a practice jersey, which was typical done by the Black hawks. Gunzo's sports center tag in the collar, Berwyn, IL. General Athletic tag in hem. LOA from the Spirit of the Game.

Left Sleeve - 4 team repairs.
Front - Some stick marks on the front.

Al Secord - Coane durene knit, size 48.  Gunzo's and Coane tags in the collar. This jersey was first used by Cliff Koroll during the 79-80 season then recycled into 80-81 and 81-82 seasons for Al Secord. As quoted by Lou Varga the old hawks equipment manager, in 80-81 and 81-82 the Sandow jerseys were slow in shipping to the Hawks so in both years he recycled the Coane durene jerseys to the point that he even put on newer numbers. In matching this against several other known Coane jerseys of the Hawks a high percentage have shown nameplate and number replacements. Also in watching old games on VHS you can clearly see the Hawks wearing these jerseys in 80-81 and 81-82 because there is no printing on the hems like the Sandow jerseys which read Sandow SK. LOA from the Spirit of the Game.

Game Wear:

Right Sleeve - Some stick marks and burns and some loose threads on the elbow area.
Left Sleeve - Some nice stick marks and some light pilling on the elbow from burns.
Front - Durene nameplate.  Some very nice stick marks on the front and the crest shows some puckering.
Back - Some marks on the hem and a couple of burns.
Fight Strap - Customized button style clasp fight strap.
Inside - Very nice inside pilling and stretching.
